Your first week: a checklist

Updated 29 September 2026

These steps get the most out of your first week. Several are also on Get started, which ticks them off as you go.

Day one

  1. Connect where customers already talk to you, in Channels: WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, your support email or your website chat.

  2. Check your approved answers in Settings → FAQ snippets: prices, opening hours, delivery, returns. Replies only state facts you’ve approved, and we can find them on your website.

  3. Send yourself a test message. See it working, on Get started, walks you through it and shows the reply suggested for you.

In the first few days

  1. Invite your team from Settings → Team, and choose how conversations are shared out in Settings → Assignment.

  2. Decide what Dot does. On the Dot page, under Where Dot works, choose Suggest to have Dot draft replies your team checks, or Auto to let it answer on its own and hand over when it can’t help.

  3. If comments come in, go to Automation → Comment rules and publish the spam rule. On Free it flags spam for you to hide in one click; on paid plans it hides it for you.

  4. Add the answers your team types most often in Settings → Saved replies.

At the end of the week

  • Open Reports to see how many conversations came in and how quickly you replied.

  • Open Teach Dot, on the Dot page, to see the questions Dot couldn’t answer, and fill the gaps.
